Default D16Z6 replace cylinder head.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but so far all I can find are guides on how to replace head gaskets and mini me swaps. I know all the steps required for taking the head off and changing the gasket and stuff then putting the head back on, but is putting an entirely new head on different? What are some precautions or steps I need to take? Do I set the cam to tdc on the new head and just slap it on there? And of course when I buy a new one, I’ll have a shop look it over first. Any advice for this job is appreciated, thank you and if there is already a post about the subject please point me that way.

It is the same when putting back a different head. Know how to read the marks on the pulleys and set the cam and crank to TDC then put the timing belt on.

You may see Youtube videos of people marking their timing belt. Those people are doing things the wrong way.

Thank you for the reply. I should've mention this, but if the head is new, like new, or has been used, do I need to lubricate it at all or can I just crank it up? I've never put a new head on before and just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the response though.

After tightening the head bolts and installing the timing belt you should:
* Pour some new oil over the cam to fill up the oil wells under the cam
* Adjust valve clearance
* Crank engine with no ignition to make sure the oil flows up through the head
