MY 1998 Civic Check engine light!
Greetings ya,ll... I hope all is well.
I'm quiet new to the honda realm, and i've recently purchased a 1998 honda civic from some random off craigslist. It's an automatic with 165k so of course it has had some problems. Recently took it to get smogged and it FAILED! due to
P0325 Knock Sensor 1 CKT malfunction and
P0135 O2 Sensor hearter fault (Bank 1 sensor 1)
I asked around and they said the car wouldn't run if the knock sensor was not working (the car runs perfect)...
Also i recently replaced the o2 sensor myself.
I was wondering how I can clear the Code
My friend tried to use an OBD2 scanner but There was an error code (Communication error)
Sorry this has became lengthy, i'm just trying to pass this smog!!!!..

car would run without the knock sensor. whoever told you otherwise is wrong.
I would check the wiring from the sensor to the ecu first. if that is ok, replace the knock sensor.
disconnect the battery for 5 mins to clear the codes.
