First off i want to say that i have spent numerous hours searching,

But my friend has a '96 dx hatchback and is swapping an obd 1 b18c into it. now we have some questions about exactly what has to be done to make this work.He has an obd2>1 harness.

1. What do we do about the distributor? Do we have to buy an obd2 b18 one or do we cut and splice the plugs?

2. Does the b18c rear mount have to be changed in any way?

3. injectors and alternator? Do the plugs need to be changed and to what (dx plugs or b18?)

If anyone knows any websites that have detailed instructions it would help out alot, all i can come up with is crap saying that the ecu harness is all you need.He really does not want to use another harness or "just make it work". Thanks in advance.

you can take all the pins out of the OBD1 b18 plug of the distributor and swap it into an OBD2 plug... still using the same distributor... hence repinning it. (you'll need a diagram of some sort to see where the pins go in the plug)... I believe you can use the stock rear mount.. but not the bracket. as for the injectors, use the stock DX plugs and injectors.. i believe d series and b series injectors are the same CC (240) and for the alternator .. i would just get an OBD2 b-series.. that way you keep everything OBD2, the injectors, distributor, and alternator, without cutting and splicing anything.

So what has to be done to the bracket? I ask this becaues hybridgarage says there is some way to modify it.

Just buy a rear motor mount bracket for a 99+ Civic SI.. there should be no modifying needed. Im sure there might be a way to modify a sohc bracket but that would consist of cutting and welding and that would weaken the bracket altogether...

Sorry i should have been more clear, we have a gsr rear mount bracket. I was told they are different from the 99 Si and that we cant use it without modification.

Yeah well I've never heard of anyone modifying any rear bracket to fit for a swap, and if they have then that just half-assing it. As you know, the GSR will not fit and it is different from a 99 Si as you said above. The easiest way is to get the 99 Si rear bracket. I'm sure you can sell that GSR rear bracket to someone with an EG thats going to do a swap and buy a 99 Si bracket, or just buy one, they're only like 50 bucks at most.
