Motor Swap needed?
I have a 97 civic ex coupe with a D16Y8 in it. All stock right now, except for a glass-pack muff i might put on tomorrow (oh, and it's a v-tec btw, but no logo on the valve cover... )
Is a D16Y8 worth modding? I believe its around 127 hp, and I'm not sure the torque, but I see that people want Y8 heads and intake manifolds, I believe.
So do we think that this baby is worth hanging onto?
"I call her Tina, cuz she's small and sweet, but when i hit her, she can really scream."

Though I'm not a huge fan of the D16Y8 as a performance platform, or any D-series engine for that matter, there are a lot of people who love them and even seek them out.
Torque comes in at a mind blowing 107 lb-ft.
It's popular to turbo them.
Oh, and all '96-'00 EX coupes and sedans got the SOHC VTEC D16Y8. They're all VTEC. None of them say VTEC on the valve cover though.

Re: Motor Swap needed? (LemonLime)
they respond very well to boost and make alot of torque when boosted. but if ur not gonna boost it than i would swap it out for something else. b18c1, ls/vtec, b20/vtec.
