Default D16Y8 Vtech

I have a 96 honda civic Ex coupe, engine D16Y8 and it doesn't say vtech on the it anywhere, my Haynes Manual says "Models equipped with VTEC systems can be distinguished by "VTEC" molded into the valve cover. I was just wondering whats going on.

How in the hell can you possibly still spell it "Vtech" when you also spell it correctly as VTEC???

Yes your D16Y8 has VTEC. It's 127hp. None of the 96-00 VTEC engines say "VTEC" on them. Also Haynes is a terrible source for information. You need to check out http://www.helminc.com for good manuals - HELM manuals.
