Default Misfire...Hesitation...CEL sometimes

My hatch is misfiring and has some nasty hesitation too. When on the expressway going ~70mph the engine will stutter and I can hear it basically shut off. It's been doing it ever since I bought the car. It also seems to burning oil, but only after about 50% throttle.

The check engine light comes on sometimes and gives me codes 10 and/or 15, which are Intake Air Temp sensor (which I have already replaced with a brand new one) and Ignition Output Signal. I reset the ECU and got the same codes today after driving.

I replaced the distributor and it seemed to go away for about 3 or 4 days. The car ran great...no hesitation at all. Now it is back out of no where and still throwing those two codes. I just replaced the plugs and plug wires and had no effect at all.

The motor in the car is a 97 D16Y7 converted to OBD1, with a 93 EX intake manifold. I bought the car with the motor in it so I have no idea what the kid did with the wiring. The fan is always on via a spliced wire at the dead plug on the drivers side.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing such horrible engine performance?

Could the 92 CX ECU be causing all my troubles?

ECU sounds like the problem. Either that or the wiring harness is jacked up. 1 of the 2

I'm going to check the harness this afternoon. I know of a couple splices that the previous owner could have screwed up.

Any other thoughts?

You should run the obd1 DX ecu. I dont know the number of it i think P05 or something. But anyway that would give you a better map then the CX is.

I would look into changing out your ignitor and ignition coil before they completely take a **** on you and you need to tow. That sounds like its your number 1 problem.

I changed the whole distributor about 2 weeks ago.

Well if your throwing a code 15 somethings wrong with that dist. A code 10 would not cause this. If you bought a rebuilt take it back.
