Default check engine light!!!

i listen to my friend and washed down my motor

i covered the distributor and alternator

and power washed it

the next day i let the car warm up the check engine light start flashing

then after a hour i started my car again and the car started to shack so i took it to my friends house to use the ob2 reader, while i was driving the car would jerk alittle then while i was stop it would shack

when i got to my friends i took out my skark plug wires and found out there was water

i took all plug wires and let it dry then i took out the plugs itself and crank the motor to see if any water got in

cleared off the check engine

with in a hour of driving/50 miles the check engine came on again, went back to my body

and it said the 4th cylinder had miss fire

so i changed out the spark plug from the fourth to the first to see if it was the plugs

what else should i do? and could it be any other issue?

think he means when you spray the engine.

happened to me the first time I did my b16 , get new plugs, take out the old plugs let it dry out for a while, you can turn it over a couple of times with the plugs out, then replace the plugs and you should be good if your going turn it over with the plugs out I would disconnect the wireharness for the dizzy b4 you start cranking

gl

also I learned if you jack up the drivers side of the car a little it will help the water drain without getting into the plugs

I always spray my engine bay I only wrap the dizzy with a towel. Never had a problem. Been doing this for 10+ year. I use the water from my parants house or the coin car wash.

and i think ima change the spark plugs

one last question how would you clean your motor cause i got my car from the auction and it was really really dusty

my other friend told me to cover the dizzy and alternator and use the tire degrease from the coin machine at the car wash (thinks its a good idea) dont wanna mess up again

thanks for all the great replys

Step to clean the engine bay

1. While motor is off (let the motor cool down or even cold is better).
2. Wrap Dizzy
3. Spray degresser. I like to use orange blast because of the orange citrous.
4. Let it set for about 5min or so. You can brush it with a soft brush if you desire.
5. Wash engine bay with water.
6. Dry engine bay with a towel or some sort.
7. Start motor. once it get to normal temp, you will see steem, it's ok it's just water vap.

I never cover the battery or alt. Make sure your spark plugs are intact fully before you spray your motor down.
