Default MiniMe swap vtec (y5 block y8 head) with Y7 ECU - Safe to rev past 5K rpm?

I just did a minime swap in my car (y5 block y8 head). And I kept the old ECU for the y7.

I ran outta funds, so I couldn't buy the ECU and sensors to wire in vtec.

I was wondering if its safe to rev past 5k, since vtec cannot engage?

Sorry for the newb question

Thanks for the info!

But it doesn't answer my question.

I would rather not spend more money, and keep it the way it is, with no vtec. But I have no idea if its safe.
