Mini-me conversion.
Hello everyone.
Just a quick and simple question. 'Mista Bones', maybe you can answer this one for me.
I got myself a d15b7, and just found a JDM 1.5L Vtec at a local junkyard. Is it possible to just grab the Vtec Head and bolt it onto my block? I should be able to get the Vtec ecu no problems, but is there anything else i need? IM?
Would be great if someone can answer this.
Cheers

most likely a junkyard is not gonna split apart a perfectly good d15b so they can just sell the head. Just buy the whole motor. Mini me's are good if you dont have alot of money to spend but you wont get near the power you would from a whole swap. Ive done alot of research on the D15B sohc vtec and its a great motor. Get the whole thing if you can afford it youll be happy you did, BTW its a direct swap into any 92-95 civic and you can use your stock tranny.

You have a point about the junkyard not splitting the head.
Problem is, i live in Australia and honda engines are damn expensive here. Getting a cheap vtec head would just satify my craving for more power whilst still having enough money in my wallet to buy lunch.
I'll talk to the junkyard and see what they can do for me. But that's provided its an easy conversion.

Re: Mini-me conversion. (GummyBeng)
good luck. I also have the d15b7 in my hatch and this weekend me and a buddy are gonna swap it out for a d16z6. I did a bunch of things to my b7 to make more power with stock honda parts. 91 si cam, z6 intake manifold, advanced my timing, Y8 head gasket, and so on. I cant seem to find anymore potential out of this motor besides mini me and I dont want that so I decided to do a vtec swap.
