I drive a 1993 Honda civic DX with a 1.5 L. I'm under the impression that the 1.5 and 1.6 use the same block so I was wondering if it's at all possible to switch the heads. put a 1.6 head on my 1.5 engine. also if I swap for A Vtec head I will need to swap some electrical stuff like the ECU and what not. I don't have enough money for a Vtec so is it worth it or should I just save my money...

Trust, just save your money for an entire engine, or a zippier transmission at least. You sound like you don't have much money at all if you can't afford a VTEC head for a D-Series. I suggest to just be patient.

how easy would it be to swap if i did buy a vtec D-series head. would I have to do anything other that putting it on. How much and where can I get one.

it's a waste of money, you're not gonna make much power from vtec with a single cam. just boost it.

search mini-me swap, u will need the vtec head, the vtec ecu, ull need to wire vtec to the ecu, i believe there are many right ups on it tho

In my honest opinion, you'll enjoy the simplicity of just swapping a JDM D15B compared to this. I say you ought to go with the whole engine, or just turbo your litte DX engine. Either will be fun, but unless you want to get into all that complication, I don't think you'll really enjoy doing a mini-me yourself.

thanks a lot man... I really want an engine but it does not seem to be possible right now... I really want my project to take off... a turbo would be nice and I have a shop I can work on it at, the only problem is that my engine now seems to be going out (burns oil) and I'm afraid the turbo would completely blow it... A guy at work thinks a simple Nos rail would be easy power because we have a place to fill it close by but that would probably end my engine too.

Well, I just took a quick peek at your profile, and noticed your age. IMO, wait for a bit and be patient. Don't go with the little steps, or you won't get a serious payoff. Save up and make a big leap when the time comes, and you'll have what you really want out of your car. Until then, focus on your rust problem, and just try to clean up the look of your car.

EDIT: Haha, nitrous won't solve your engine's aging problems, unless you consider a solution to be completely destroying it. And I don't think it would be a good idea for you to go turbo on a single cam engine that isn't in good condition. It seems imperitive now that you try and scrape together enough cash for a JDM D15B VTEC (can be cheap if you look around), simply for the sake of a lower mileage engine. That would be my suggestion.
