Default Mileage is a problem?

I'm willing to buy a honda civic ek3 Vi 2000 model and its mileage is more than 400000 Km. But the car has maintained properly and I also like to this car. But my friends not happy with that and I also have a doubt about the mileage.

Could someone help me to explain about this

High mileage on a Honda that has been properly maintained isn't as big an issue as many other manufacturers. That being said, expect problems. You are considering buying a vehicle that is statistically close to the end of its life. If you can get it for a significantly cheaper price than one without high mileage, buy it, drive it until it breaks (or restore it) and call it a "win".

time to state obvious a bunch but if it helps..it more has to do with the actual health of the motor, things like leaks and strange problems, if the tranny shifts well. obviously all that will have to reflect on the price. also point out any body damage and cancerous rust. my friends del sol had 400k miles everything original one of the cleanest one i ever seen, the whole car eveything was like new the power windows the suspension cleaner inside and out everything worked way better then mine with 140k miles somehow..

also this guy explains highway mileage vs city mileage
. 300k miles can be no problem if there all highway and the car has had regular oil changes. some cars with 80k city miles are in worse condition from nothing but stop and go, more shifts, cold starts. some people go a year without service and do 10,000 miles of that with tainted oil.. i seen lots of city cars with bad head gaskets with 80k miles. and some like mine with 240k miles is a perfect car that is just breaking in

edit: if rust is a factor inspect the fuel lines and brake lines. arguably atleast a 300$ job. also check how fresh the timing and water pump is, and things like torn mounts and steering racks..

Even if the drivetrain is in good condition, there's still suspension, steering, electrical, interior, exterior etc. Really need to get it on the lift to see what you're dealing with.

^What they said. If you're happy with the condition of all of those parts, there are no symptoms, fluids look good, then I'd say buy it. BUT, make sure to use the mileage as a leverage point. No matter how well-maintained it is, it's still a high-mileage vehicle and is worth less than one in the same condition with fewer miles.
