Default Manual Civic or CTR cluster swap into an auto Civic?

Just wondering, does a cluster from a manual EK work on an automatic EK/EJ6-8 Civic Coupe/hatch? I'm not fussed about the lights that show what gear you're in for automatics, just want the additional tacho that some automatic Civics don't have. And also, do CTR clusters work on automatic EK coupes/hatches too? Thanks

Uh, just say 6th gen or 96-00 instead of EK. People tend to get butt-hurt on the reference. "If it's not an EK, it's not OKAY" but yeah.

It'll work, you just won't see the auto gears.

But if you want just get the 97-01 (1st gen) CRV clusters. There are few manual CRV's in the USA (assuming you're from there) so finding an automatic one should be easy. I picked up mine at the junkyard for $60, but you can try to get it for much less. Bolts and plugs directly in.

I'm sorry. I normally use 96-98 and 99-00 but I understand the term EK isn't an umbrella term for the entire 6th gen. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not too big of a fan of the CRV cluster, not with the numbers in italic. I prefer the Civic clusters, but some automatic models lack a tacho and that bugs me. Like I said, I'm not bothered about the automatic gear lights, hence why I was curious to know if a cluster from a manual Civic would work normally on an automatic Civic. I actually kind of want one without the auto gears (to my knowledge there is an auto cluster that has a tacho as well, but yeah).

Also curious about this too, has anyone done this? If so, could you post some pics up please?

Uhh. for USDM: Automatic 4 door LX/ 2 door HX/ 4/2 door EX 6th Gen Civics I believe are equipped with the tachometers.

If you want to go through the work; here are links to non-6th gen Civic clusters, into 6th gen civics:

Do you mean all the little lights for things like indicator, fuel, battery and oil etc on both sides of the speedo in the center? So the lights won't work if I install a CTR cluster?

Thanks heaps for the links I should point out though, I'm not from the US. I'm from Australia; we have the CXi, GLi, CXi Sport, GLi Sport, VTi, VTi Sport etc depending on transmission and body type. I'm not sure what the US equivalents are, but we have the VTi Coupe which is similar to an EM1 Si (not 100% on that)

It's just that the auto CXi hatch has this kind of cluster (although in this pic, there aren't gear lights so it may have come from a manual, I'm not sure) :

And I think the GLi auto coupe comes with a tacho:

Ahh, so confusing, i'm not used to those acronyms!
Well as long as you can find a 1st generation CRV or 6th generation Civic w/ a tach their clusters should drop right in! Good luck.

if you go the CTR cluster just remmber they do not DIM with the DIMMER
But it's an extremely easy, 10-min fix.

Haha, sorry, the US acronyms confuse me too! Anyway thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it. Off-topic, do you have a build thread for your Civic?

Also, can someone please tell me what this means?

sorry Ill explain with a bit more detail
the cluster lights as in the lights that come on with your headlights and the rest of the dash lights heater control ect will not be controlled with the dimmer switch as the CTR cluster doesnt have this function

Re the comment its a 10Min fix Id like to see that ?!?!
I have a Degree in Electronics and Ive lookaed at it and its a major rewire to have it function correctly as all the lights share there earth with all the gauges
Im working on a DIY that ill post shortly as to the fix and also the rewire so the hatch and door open light display will work as in the CTR and how to reconfigure the car wiring to apply it

I haven't done it on my cluster as i didn't care, the amber isn't that bright anyway. I think it's is a matter of just switching the print sheet off of a usdm cluster from an ex or si model, possibly one other part too

Getting a CTR cluster would be quite the expense.... they're a pretty pricey modification. I'd rather get an S2000 if i'm going to that price range! No problem, good luck with whatever you decide.

Off topic: Nah i don't have a build thread because there was not much to build. I bought it with rims and a paintjob already, only things i've done were repair its many problems (blown headgasket/broken a/c etc; ) and did some modifications.
here's how it looks though: http://imgur.com/a/NGKXv
any build thread for yours?

Just thought about the cluster as an idea. It's expensive and you don't get much more. And sorry, no build thread of my own, yet!

I was lucky in this regard, and sold my em1 cluster for $200

Then went to ebay, bought this for $200

For a cheap alternative, you can buy an EX cluster for $35-50
