Default 96-00 EK -- Can gauges from a manual cluster be swapped to my auto cluster?

Ok, so i was home yesterday with nothing to do so i pulled the ek (auto tranny) gauge out for it to be cleaned. I dismantled it, and yep, i took the needles out before reading in so many places that i wasnt supposed to. I'm resigned to the fact that the gauges are done.

I now have another cluster from another ek but WITH A MANUAL TRANNY. I thought i'd transplant the gauges (needles and faces) to the a/t gauge which has the shift lever position indicator.

Is this possible? I'd appreciate any advice!

Yes, you just won't be able to see what gear you're in on the cluster.
Auto's can also be used on Manuals.
Plus, if you have it why can't you just put it on and connect it up? I mean, it saves you time waiting for us H-T members to tell you (which may take up to hours). Not to sound mean but yeah....

If you searched that you weren't supposed to remove the needles, you could've searched if manual can work in auto:

Good luck :D

Sorry, just a noob. Will do better next time.

My question really is, can i take the gauges (rpm, gas and temp) from the m/t cluster and transplant them to the a/t cluster? It's so i can preserve the mileage, and more importantly, the shift lever position indicator.

I do know that i can plug and play the m/t cluster into the a/t car, but see, i lose the indicator. Which is why i'm asking if i can transplant gauges without a problem.

Thanks!

Didn't you say you removed the needles though. All of the needles? Don't take them off, repositioning and recalibrating is going to be too much work.

edit: I just took out my spare junk cluster and yeah, you can unscrew the backs and swap them over as long as it's the same layout I think.

These are the screws (assuming your vehicle is either a CX hatch or DX hatch/coupe/sedan without a tach

If it's a Civic speedo to another Civic speedo it can be done:

You know what, you're right. I get what you're saying. It's a civic ek to civic ek with a tach, speedometer, fuel and temp gauges. But i just figured that the only way i can move the gauges is to move the faces too. If i do that for the gas and temp gauges, i lose the shift position indicator (which is on the face of the a/t gauge which is wrecked).

Man this is really bad. I got a solution though. It's to replace the whole cluster.

Thanks a lot though, you've been a lot of help!

Hold on,

You said repositioning and recalibrating is going to be too much work? But it can be done?

At idle, my tach stays at 850 for a while, but then drops to zero. Speedometer is fine. Gas gauge is a little off, and temp no longer moves.

I broke my speedo needle on my CRV cluster the same day I installed it into my Civic, I was so pissed so I did some research. Found some threads, here's a few on re-calibration.
