I am not a big fan of ls/vtec, but most people like it and are going to tell you to do it. I see it as if its so great why didn't Honda make it? I would say do a gsr or a poor mans type r.. Ls/vtec if its not done right will always have problems. And the cost to make it isnt worth it to get about the same numbers as the gsr. So go gsr

Can we have a sticky put at the top of this forum that states the differences between LS/VTEC and the GS-R, or is that already in the "What Swaps Are Available For My Civic?" thread?

Why? Half the noobs that post still won't read it unless they're forced to.

why dont you just keep your b16a2 and boost it. it will be cheaper and probably more reliable than an ls/vtec. if you are set on swapping...go for the gsr. it will be more reliable than an ls/vtec and its just about the same performance. i would just keep your b16a2 and boost it.

Yeah I would say keep the b16, unless it died or something. I have a 2000 si and when my motor dies it's getting a gsr, maybe a Kswap if I don't have a good eg shell by then.

If you have no idea what you're doing and aren't willing to tune your car, go with the GSR.

Money aside, the GSR is a better buy. End of thread...

There HAS to be a way to set it up so that you pick a primary forum that you'll participate in...then you have to spend say 10 minutes reading each sticky before you start posting.

ls/vtec is as good as the person who built it. I personally ran the ge kit with stock ls block and b16 head. Only thing i did was gsr arp head studs vtec or 96+ oil pump and vtec water pump. I also sprayed hg with cooper seal, she's still running dam good till today. lol also i dont take it past 7200rpm. when people say ls/vtec is not reliable they either never did it or did it wrong plane and simple
