Lowered Sedan
I just purchased a 97 Civic LX Sedan. I want to lower the overall stance of the car. I have found lower kits through Eibach and Summit. My main question is; What else do I need to make sure I dont mess anything up, such as my half-shafts or my alignment?
any help would be great. new to the honda tuner world. used to my old classic truck. Thanks again

Re: Lowered Sedan (macoffutt)
Ive got the Eibach Pro-kit on my 95 Civic Sedan with Stock shocks and struts, and I like it. Im gonna eventually get the Pro damper kit also when I have the money.
Also I didnt get anything else but the springs put on but I would recommend an alignment.

Re: Lowered Sedan (macoffutt)
I have a 97 ex lowered with a swap in
I have tein H-tech (the gold ones) and they are comfy but firm. They're held up by tokiko illuminas @ 3 for resistance. Pretty smooth, stock like ride but firmer on the corners. My rims do rub on some of the bigger bumps so I wouldnt recommend anything more than 16''s. Oh i do have Skunk2 camber kits in the front and some no-name kit in the back.
My car actually would ride better than my girl's stock 02' civic if i had 16'' instead of 17''s

Doing ANYTHING to your suspension will require an alignment. Lowering does cause the camber to be off but its not a significant amount. If you go with a package that lowers no more than 1.5 its not REQUIRED. However, you may want to simply get new shocks if your car hasnt had them replaced before. Otherwise you will probably need to do so within about another year or 2.

i've got a 98 LX myself, and its lowered on mugen springs (1-1.5 drop), riding on stock shocks.. no i didnt need an alignment and im satisfied with the overall look/ride. i wouldnt be too suprised if my shocks blew out.. but **** happens

Re: Lowered Sedan (K SERIES)
I had arrospeed coilovers before and a 2.5-3in drop on stock shocks (a bit too low for local streets, lol).
They blew out, but only cause the shop that did it (one6 motorsport), took off the dust covers off the shocks and some debree got caught in there and messed it up.
I now have a 1.5” drop w/tokico springs/struts, and it rides pretty nice.
Tokico Springs (1.5" drop)
Tokico Struts (gas)
'97 LX front sway bar/LCA's
'94 SI rear sway bar
Megan racing rear LCA's
'00 Si front upper tie bar
Generic upper and lower rear tie bars
Enkei 17X7 w/NT555 ZR tires
I'm loving it. It handles like a dream

. it affects your toe too, and that's what wears out tires fast. anytime you replace something in your suspension, you should get an alignment. If you are lowering your car for performance reasons, make sure you get new shocks and springs.
