Default low-fuel warning light not litting up?

I had this problem ever since i brought the car a year ago.

When the fuel goes very low the low-fuel warning light doesn't come up.

I have some wierd things happening to the car lately too, for example:

-when i tried to fill up at the gas station, the pump cuts me at $20 as if the gas tank is full already
-i can never fill up more than $35

anyone know what's causing this problem?
any help would be appreciated!

Well, the light on the dash may be out, you didn't say if it came on when you turned the key on, as that tests all the lights.

If not, then there is obviously (well almost) something going on in the tank. Seeing as how you didn't drive it for most of its life, there may be something in the tank. Somehow something worked it way in there, and it MAY be coming up in the neck of the tank as you try to fill it. (just a simple explanation)

Check the light, then check to see if the sending unit in the tank is working (use manual) (and the wires aren't cut to the front somehow) if it is NOT, and replacing it does not help, then something inside the tank is interfering with it, so you will have to seek pro help with that. Unless you are really comfortable with removing the tank, and possibly opening it with a welder. (Gasoline and welders ) You should do something, even if you want to just get by on half tanks, because eventually whatever it is (possibly a rag used instead of a gas cap??) will disintegrate and work itself into the fuel filter and lines and clog them. (and after its fixed, I'd replace the filter, and blow out the lines)

Hope that at least steers you in the right area.

low fuel warning light might be out (mine is, but i can tell by looking at the gauge when it needs fuel) or maybe your fuel level sensor thing is bad. a lot of times the arm just kinda gets stuck. also check your gas tank, is it dented in? that would make it read less accuratel and also so u cant fill it up with 10 gallons.

now im also curious at how the hell you open a fuel tank with a welder... maybe a cutting torch...

and as far as fueling it, i know some cars have issues where air doesnt vent like it should in the filler neck, and that makes it the gas not go down as fast as it should and makes it back up and trigger the pumps cutoff...

What kind of car do you have? My 94 del sol doesn't have a low fuel light, wasn't an option till 95 i believe. Maybe this is your problem?

I've ran mine down pretty low and it won't come on either. The light does work I just have a feeling it's gotta be way down there to register.

Have you ran out of gas yet?

if you want it to work youll have to get the sensor for an integra and run the wires to your cluster.

thanks!

I do have another problem with the gauge though.
-the gauge never goes below 3/4 when the tank is empty
-checked fuel sensor (the floating thing) it's fine
-checked cluster, working properly
