Loud ticking coming from motor.....help please!!!!!!
okay, honda-techies....here's my set up...i have a del sol vtec...the motor is a b16a3...there is a loud ticking coming from the motor right above cylinder four where the intake rocker arms are at...i already did a valve adjustment at Honda with no help...i bought a new distributor and the noise is still there...i've been told that it could be the lost motion sensors, bent valves or carbon build up on the valves...any suggestions or help?....all inputs are appreciated...thanks...

Wow, am I glad I read down further before posting...
My 96 Del Sol VTEC has this SAME exact issue. My friend says "rocker arms" but he is not for sure. I almost paid a $50 diagnostics fee to find out what this annoying problem is.
BTW what is LMA?
Thanks!

Thats great, and I found this
http://www.honda-acura.net/for...33391
maybe it will help more?
Also, if the LMA's are bad, what does that mean will happen? Like is it going to throw a rod any time soon? As you can tell I'm a noob when it comes to mechanics but I really dont want to be driving my car too much if is about to die. I just bought it!

you can get them at hondaautomotiveparts.com or at any dealership...they sometimes come up for sale on this site too...no, you don't need to drop the engine...as far as i know, you just need to remove distributor, vtec solenoid and cam gears so you can pull out the rocker arms...then you just pull out the lma...do a search...plenty of info on lma...

Re: (orientalgunz_00)
how many miles on your motor? wanna laugh i picked up a car that one of the cams was rubbing on an inside piece of timing cover clicked pretty good as it turned, couldn't see it, very deceptive sounding as far as where it was coming from, i thought it was the dizzy, also picked up a honda that had a water pump that was loud and had a clicking sound, b and h series are pretty tough and over all don't have tons of lma issues
