So i was talking to my local shop and they directed me away from simply putting some lowering springs on, as they saif it will destroy the stock shock. I was wondering if anybody could input on this, i wanna know if this is really a concern, or wether they are trying to make some more money off me. I was looking at the Tein S-type lowering spring which says it will lower around 1.5 inches. I am running stock wheels if this makes a difference.

If you stick with stock struts, they will blow fast. Get aftermarket struts to accomodate the springs.

If you want to spend a little more, get full coilovers with adjustable dampening. This will allow you to adjust the height of your ride so it's not too low or too high.

I know a few people whove dropped their cars past 1.5" and years later theyre stock struts are still holding up.

That might not be the case for you though. Grab some shocks.

This is true, but if they are at all close to going, they'll blow right away. You'll get a better ride with quality aftermarket struts anyways.

100% true, if you don't want a stiff coilover ride but want a nice drop get those S-techs or some H&R springs with some tokico blues or gr-2s....or if you want a little nicer strut with some adjustability the AGX's are good as well and on the affordable side.

my hx is dropped 1.75 front and 1.5 back on h&r springs on a fully stock suspension for about 4 months now with no problems...but its only been 4 months

Depending on how low you wanna go I'd go with something that is bottom adjustable so that the shock travel does not beat the shock to hell. Of the top of my head, ksport, omni, and all those shocks repainted under hella other names make these. Old ksport shocks blow though so stick with at least the new version of their shock.

But all in all I'd try not to go that low if possible. You'll just scrape everything under your car, exhaust, header, oil pan, etc and end up beating your car slowly. But if you must, take it easy and stay super alert when daily driving

BTW, stock wheels = 14s You'll have to lower the car a lot to make 14s look slammed and you'll kill your clearance high so look out for road transitions and man holes

just a note his car is an EM1 SI....with 15" wheels.

The Si shocks are stouter then, ex or dx for example. Also the Si's came from the factory about 1" lower then the ex or dx. If you are only going for a slight drop of 1.5" or so then the stock Si shocks will do you just fine for a good amt of time. I went 40k or a set with sportlines.
