Hey gang,

I have a 00 civic sedan that is currently on stock springs/shocks. As spring approaches i am looking into lowering my car. Id like to drop the front around 2" and the back around 1.7" or so.

Id like to stay away from Coilovers and also am not looking to spend $1000+.

Just wondering what you guys would recommend for a ncie drop and decent ride.

i would say go with h&r springs thats what i have on my ej and i love it and i have kyb's

Personally i prefer springs rather then coilovers. To get a nice riding coilover your gonna spend some decent change. Again, thats my opinion...i am sure others will disagree. I run Eibach's by the way.... .

I love my eibachs, wish they were a tad lower but I'd rather have it a little too high than a little too low.

Could you guys also state what kind of drops u got from these setups?

Like i said id like ot go for around 2" in front and a little less in back....but am not necessarily set on these specs.

i would recommend coilovers, you don't have to "slam" it all the way, but you always have that option. here's my sedan w/ ground control coilovers and tokico shocks:

Do you guys drive your cars daily though. I can understand why you wouldnt want the same drop all the time with seasonal changes and what not. But my car sits in the garage and sees nice days only. I have a 2.5 in the front and a 2 in the back, thats in regards to the original poster!!!!!!

The only reason a lot of coil-overs ride like crap is because they are usually kind of stiff and are paired with stock blown struts.

Ground Controls will ride awesome when paired with a nice new strut. KYB GR-2 struts are cheap as hell and will match up very well with Ground Contol Civic rates.

Want something a bit firmer?

Try the Ground Control Integra rates and some KYB AG-X adjustables.

I just installed Tein S-Techs and KYB GR-2 on my 1990 hatch and I love the ride. No it won't be the most awesome handling package, but it rides so smooth and non-bouncy.

i like my nuespeed race springs on koni yellows. rides nice but a little firm for the roads around here. 2.5/2.25 drop i think.

My car is a daily driver. The roads here are pretty shitty.

I don't have anything against coilovers i just have heard that they ride like a school bus.

B18bEK---I love your setup. That dallas pic of yours has made an appearance on my desktop a few times. I like how it looks on the blades too....i just picked up a set last week.

i used to daily drive mine at that height ... i would go anywhere, but then again the roads aren't that bad in dallas. when we had a snow storm, it was kinda like a snow plow

the tein basic would beyour best bet. around $ 750 its a coilover.if you shocks there going to cost 450 plus 200 for spring.why waste the money.

You guys have me opening up to coilovers i think.

What would be a decent riding coilover setup that would work good with my 2000 civic sedan (daily driver).

This car is not raced at the track but i would like to have a good aggressive street setup.

don't get sleeve coil-overs. If you get coil-overs, spend the extra money.

otherwise, what's wrong with Eibach springs, and KYB AGX's?

well your opinion is wrong and basid on bad information. No way in hell can you say you need to spend decend change to get a good set of coilover, when ground controls can be had for 300 and you can get what ever kind of spring rate your lil heart desiers. Lets be realistic, yes there are shitty coilover out there, but your just as shitty if you think your going to get a good coil over setup for 100.

to the creater you want to spend "1000+" dollars on you suspension? well i would suggest something like the Tein SS coil over setup. i don't like tein but that just personal prefreance nothing to do with quality.

No, i said i wasn't looking to spend 1000+. Id like to get a decent setup without spending a fortune, this will be for street use only.

hate to get into this but, how can an opinion be wrong?

$300 for gc's is about twice what a decent spring set like H&R sports, for example, would cost... i dunno about you guys, but i consider that decent change. you could do a lot with $150... get a sway bar, an intake, a used header, go racing, buy weed.... I've had both set ups, H&R sports and ground controls (civic rates 350/250 lbs/in.) and i can't say that the ground controls are twice as good. the adjustability is nice, but if you don't need that, or need custom rate springs, i'd go with the h&rs. peace.

I'm not ready to but yet...plus it's still very much winter here in Nova Scotia Canada. If i was local id consider but i think it would cost me too much once it was all said and done to get those though.

At this time im just trying to decide what would be a good setup to go with so when the funds become available i can be all set to order.

H&R Sport and Konis or KYB AGXs. $450-$650 depending on what you get and from where.

Springs do tend to "ride" better than coilovers, fwiw.

There is a huge wealth of information if you search. This question is asked every two days at the bare minimum.

i have ridden upin two kinds of coilovers skunk2 and gc coilovers with aftermarket shocks and i didnt like them at all... i like how you can adjust it and all but its VERY bouncy i mean Bouncy like how hoes shake their booty hahahaha imagine if you got some drinks or while somebody is eattin and you hit a bump not good at all
