KNOCK SENSOR QUESTION::busted the F*!% off
Ok..so I've been getting a shitload of different opinions on this. I have a 98 Civic ex. I did an auto->manual swap and it runs fine up until about 5100-5200. It bogs and I'm getting a code 1229-VTEC system malfunction. People have told me that the knock sensor can't retard timing enough to make my car feel like it has a rev limiter. Some people have told me that the VTEC system will not work without the knock sensor.
BTW: I'm NOT doing the piezo-electric stuff. Everything is from a 5 speed EX now too...ECU, manifold, IACV, etc. I was running a non-vtec 5 speed ecu for a few months, would this hurt the VTEC system?(the car going over 5500 rpm and not popping VTEC)
