Default broken knock sensor...

i have a 99' lude base model with a broken knock sensor and now my vtec isnt working,can it be that the knok sensor is broken????

yeah im pretty sure you wont hit VTEC with a broken knock

its gotta be that,the vtec wont activate and my car limits like in 6,500 and its runs like crap,i think my moms daewoo runs harder

i am not running a knock sensor and i hit vtec. i think that you could maybe have another problem.

It depends of ECU firmware version. For exemple the european H22 prelude (ecu code 37820-P13-G00) doesn't have a knock sensor at all. But I suppose if it is a USDM one with knock sensor broken or disconnected you will not engage vtec.

it should still be able to get into vtec w/o the KS, if your vtec aint engaging, you have other issues.

its your knock sensor...vtec wont work without it...or you could pull your knock sensor wire and ground it to the chassis and hook the other end to the ecu. also you can get an ecu that doesn't check for knock sensor.
