well my girls car was almost stolen the other night(del sol)...the ignition has been mangled by a screw driver...now i cant start the car....ket wont turn...how should i replace it?...can i get any old honda ignition from a junk yard or should i get one from the dealer?...and how hard is it to replace?....TIA

get one from the dealer so u dont need a differetn key for the doors and ignition

I'd get one from a salvage yard if you want to save money, but it has to have the keys with it, which might be hard to find, dunno. But if you get one from the dealer you might be able to get one that matches your current keys, but everything from honda is expensive.

i heard its around $200 from the dealer....is this about right?....cuz thats hella money

I got the whole steering column from a junkyard. But it didnt come with a key so i had to get one made for almost 50 bucks. You will have 2 seperate keys for the doors and ignition but so what. Steering column was $150. You can start the car you just have to seperate the white plastic round piece at the end of the ignition switch, then you can just turn that with a screwdriver or anything. I drove mine around like that for about a month.

Won't the steering wheel lock still be engauged if you just turn the white end piece?

get to an experienced locksmith. when my ignition got messed up he ordered a new one and then rekeyed it to match my other locks. best damn thing ever!
