Help! Wrong key stuck in ignition - 2008 Honda Fit
Hi all,
My mother was driving my car and accidentally put the wrong key in the ignition and it won't come out. The ignition never turned, and it's a very small key so it's weird it got stuck in there. No amount of wiggling the steering wheel or yanking on the key will dislodge it. Does anyone have any tips? Do you know if there are any features of the car that might be stopping it from coming out, like do I need to have the break and clutch in? It's a 2008 Honda Fit Sport.
Here are the things I'm planning to try (before paying $500+ to get the ignition replaced!) - can you tell me if either of these are a bad idea?
Ice the key with an ice pack
Spray a little teflon spray in the ignition
Paying a locksmith try to pick it
Thanks a lot for any advice! Really hoping to avoid damaging the ignition and having to replace it...

You might be screwed.
If it were me, I'd probably try more force.
I did this once. GM key in a BMW. Wouldn't come out so I just muscled it out.

Thanks for the responses. In the end I had to get the ignition replaced. The locksmith tried picking it and using some lube, but no luck. To yank it out when it's that stuck apparently just damages the ignition. Well, retarded lesson learned!

So the ignition doesn't match the rest of the locks now? That's sucks.
If I was going to replace the ignition anyway, I would have just muscled it out and hoped for the best .

Damn, was hoping for the best. Don't see how a bad key could slide in and not slide out.
Sorry for your loss and added key carrying requirements.
