Default K&N Good or Bad?

I have been doing some reading about K&N air filters, and one disturbing thing I've read is that they don't filter as well as paper filters. Since they are high-flow first and foremost, they don't filter quite as well. K&N says 99% efficient compared to OEM. Is this enough to do any damage to my car?

Also, just wondering on if anyone actually finds they get better fuel mileage with these, and if they feel they were worth the money.

K&N is a trusted, tried and true filter that works...you won't have to worry about anything, other than recharging (cleaning) it once in a while. I tried an AEM filter for a while but it didn't hold up that well *shrugs*

Unscrew the clamp
Take off the filter
Spray with cleaner and let sit for 10 mins (Recharge kit)
Wash off filter with hose and let dry
Spray with oil (Recharge kit)

That doesnt seem like much of a pain, I just did it two days ago. The thing that sucks is waiting for it to dry, take that out and its a 5-7 minute job.

K&N are the BEST filter. Have had them drop ins & intakes and have never had a problem with various cars.

they are great filters... and if you put too much oil on it when you recharge it.. yah it may have some negative effects on your motor.

K&N is a good filter, if not GREAT! I have a short ram Typhoon Intake from K&N that I got off ebay new from K&N auctions for only $55 shipped. It's my 2nd one on my 2nd Civic. I also had one for my RSX and they work awesome! Take this from a guy who's had experience with ebay, AEM Cold Air, Fujita, and Injen all installed on my cars. I love the k&n and it does stay pretty clean I might ad. But then again, I strive to take excellent care and precautions with each of my cars.
