Ok i plan on getting the JDM D15B question is do i have to change my D15B7 wiring harness or can it be used? Also what else can be used from the D15B7 for the D15B..

and sorry noob question guy on the phone said something about OBD-1 or someshit and see it here all the time whats this? wiring? can yall explain this "OBD-1" stuff

obd 1 = on board diagnose version 1.

if the jdm d15 is an obd 2 or obd 0 engine, you won't be able to swap it without swapping the wiring harness, either, as the wiring harness and the ecu practically won't speak the same language.

I'm pretty sure the jdm D15b is ONLY an obd1 motor, when i shopped for mine, i didn't run into any obd0 or 2, so he should be safe. As far as the wiring harmness. You can use the same harness, i just hardwired the two VTEC pinouts straight to the motor, simple.

I use U.S. d16z6 aem intakes and aftermarket header. No prob with fitment. Also need a P28 ECU or i believe the P06 works too (?) and might want to get a z6 tranny.

and so basically its like this:
D15B can run on same wiring harness as my d15b7, as long as i use a different ecu, and use d16z6 part for header or will the d15b7 work? also what else can be used from the d15b7

95% of the stuff from the B7 will work on the d15b like the starter, alternator, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, transmission etc. You'll need to have a VTEC ECU so you'll have maaaddddd VTACK! You should be able to use the stock harness but you'll need to wire the VTEC solenoid to the VTEC ECU so it'll engage!

Everything you'll need to know to wire VTEC. I bypassed going through the plugs and just hardwired straight from the ECU pinouts to the VTEC Solenoid and Pressure Switch. It's incredibly simple.

just a correction. the D15b was avail obd0 obd1 and obd2. obd0 version is usually carbed and no vtec. obd1 is the one most common, MPFI and vtec (use P08 or P28 ecu) obd2 is 3stage vtec and MPFI. all same block codes, but differant engines. theres also the obd1 vtec-e (usdm D15z1 equivelant) also D15b, its easy to determine which is which. all dseries headers will work, all d series intake manifolds will work, any obd1 wiring harness (add vtec if needed). etc. etc. etc.

you can use your stock ecu (p06) but you have to add vtec... you have to solder a few electronic components on the ECU board.

you might also have to chip the ECU so that you can tune it properly

as far as your wiring harness... if it's a USDM hatch, the vtec should be prewired up to the underhood connector.. you'll have to run the wires from that connector to the vtec solenoid

if it's a canadian model, you'll have to run it
from ECU to the solenoid

Thanks for clarifying Now that I think of it, I do remember hearing the myth of the obd2 3-stage vtec d15b Never seen one available when I was searching for mine though.

only place i seen them was ebay, not many of the big name importers advertise them, cuz they arent big sellers i guess.
