JDM d15 compared to USDM
I have a 1996 honda civic. I ordered a JDM D15 Complete Swap from Japan. When I ordered all the tune up parts (Water pump, Oil pump, Tensioner, Timing belt, every gasket, cap, rotor, coil, plugs, wires, etc.) i gave the dealer my Vin# off my car (1996 honda civic). I noticed that the cap for the distributor is a different style then what i have and i've heard that the timing belt i have will not fit that i need a vx belt. What i'm wondering is there any other of the parts that i have that will not fit?

It really depends on exactly which JDM D15B you bought, theres at least 3 different versions. If its an OBD1 vtec version then yes you will need the 103 tooth VX belt, the oil pump wont work (VX oil pump would be the one to get here as well) and the tensioner may or may not work, You can't get a tensioner for the OBD1 D15B vtec in north america, if the one you have is in good condition simply reuse it, otherwise the D16Z6 tensioner is the next closest, it however has a larger roller, which may or may not necessitate running a D16Z6 timing belt, which has one extra tooth over a VX belt.

Re: JDM d15 compared to USDM
correct...i did some more research and it said that the block is basically the same has a d16z6 so with that being said i need a d16z6 water pump, oil pump and a vx timing belt. But when ordering i need to give them a vin # what did the d16z6 originally come out of?

any 92-95 civic i think with some variations. my friends 94 ex had a d16z6 stock.
not talking **** but why did you waste money buying a non vtec d15B from japan? you can get plenty US models for probably hundreds less.

Different strokes for different folks. I'm all about having **** that no one else has in town. I paid 1100 shipped for my jdm d15 non vtec swapped to be shipped to my door. And i have all JDM parts on my car from my rims to my ctr front end etc. And i also wanted to prove a point that sohc non v can beat v8's/ b series.
