how dose your insurance do it to cover your engine swap?

my insurance guy, AllState, is having trouble in doing this.

What exactly should i tell him.
He said just use the civic vin and that should be fine, but i don't trust his words.

what should i do??

well thats the trouble in CA.

i would get full coverage on you car, and get converage on optional parts, meaning stereos, wheels and all the extras that arent usually covered in the normal policy.

then get a receipt for your swap if you can, and if anything happens(hopefully it wont) then you can show them proof it was done.

these are all suggestion, im not sure about insurance for swaps, they have been a heated issue in ca for awhile.

From what I understand, just insure the actual car you drive. You can do one of two things for the mods. You can either wait until they are stolen and try and file them with your home owners insurance, or you can opt for "custom" insurance in which you can insure things like stereos, rims, even window tint. The amount you wish to insure will be reflected by your premeiums.

Couldnt you just get an appraisal on your car including all your mods and insure the apprasied price ?? I know people in canada do this.

i don't think allstate (who i use) covers extra stuff like that. don't tell them about the swap, just give them the vin on the shell of the car. you may want to ask about coverage through your homeowners/renters insurance.

thank you for peeps responds, the way how he did at first is just use the vin, which i would not prefer because the shells has 180k and if anything happens, they will lowball me to death.

here's what i did, he did it as a customs and i gave him a price of about 4.5k, that would do it.
