if there rubber use a lil grease and yank um through just be careful not to cut the stem. I have never done a metal one so i can't give exact advice on that. It is pretty self explanatory. If any thing go pay the 5 bucks and get them put in.

What a bunch of **** ups in here.
There is no such thing as a valve stem seal in the head. It is simply called a valve seal.
To the original poster: When people ask you a question don't respond with mindless babble, try answering the question. It takes a lot less effort when you do that.
Ignorant people **** me off.

Then you most definately do not want to just pull them through the valve spring. Compress the valve spring, place the seal and keepers on the valve and then decompress the spring.
Once again, there is no such thing as a valve stem seal in the head.

Alright. "head" being the magic word there. They are typically called valve seals, not valve stem seals.
The S/M doesnt say anything about lubing them. It does however, recommend a special driver that fits the seal perfectly. It probobly costs a lot. You can use any driver that wont harm the rib at the top part of the seal. Hope that helped.
