this isnt smart at all. dont get harness seatbelts of you dont have a rollbar or rollcage. most people will bolt them down to the frame. if you were to ever roll over, or get into a major accident, you're stuck. and you will have a big chance of getting a broken spine and/or neck. dont buy them. its not worth dying for.

what i dont understand is a regular seat belt can give you the same results, except that you can excape from a regular seat belt faster than a harness.

look at where the regular seat belt is though. it is at shoulder level or higher. which means it will lock back straight, or lock it in upward. now if the seat belt is pointed like this \ into the floor, its pulling downward and you're going foward or upward. now imagine somebody falling on top of your shoulders. thats what it will feel like.

The only 4 point harness you should ever do this with are the Schroth DOT-approved harnesses with ASM.
Some of them are optional dealer-installed equipment on BMWs in Germany.

only way I would run a 4 point would be on an autocross course, for the SOUL purpose of driver control....you're not holding the steering wheel to keep you positioned, but rather for steering
The risk of a roll over and spinal compression during daily driving is not worth it

Funny thing about those is, they are still TUV approved even without the auto retractor, and can be mounted to the rear belt postions. IMO, they are a very good thing to have even mounted in the rear seat belt position, in a normal wreck, when you flip a car you have bigger problems (where the rollcage comes into play), and they can keep you in place better than a lap belt and normal shoulder harness. The only way they are going to cause spinal compession is if the seat back collapses (which from the wrecks I have seen, takes alot, and you're fucked anyway), or if they are improperly installed, for instance, using the Schroth belts that mount on the C pillar on the lap position without the adapter. In this instance the different length belts will allow you to snap forward worse then a standard seatbelt.
