You don't bolt them to anything without a cage.

And see one of them get in an accident where their roof caves in while they have a harness on and you won't want to bolt them in anymore.

don't bolt the upper straps to the floorboard either....that will compress your spine and/or break it in the event of an accident or sudden stop.

the upper straps need to mounted at shoulder length minimum. I shudder every time I see a guy on here or other boards post pics of a car with $10k+ in mods and with their 5-point mounted on the floorboard around where the backseat was at one point.

then I laugh at the future wheelchair racer to myself...

just buy a bolt in cage and be done with it. why do you need a harness anyway?

Obviously you aren't going to listen to anyone. Its a bad idea to do it without a cage but if you are willing to risk snapping your spine to look cool then go ahead.

if he recommends you bolt the upper straps anywhere below shoulder level then I strongly suggest you turn around and walk away from that shop VERY fast because they obviously have no clue what they are doing and have no interest in your safety.

take it from someone who has NOTHING to benefit from telling you this monetarily or other wise dude.

I find it amazing that you all are berrating this fellow about his own safety and have failed to mention the possibility of splattering his brains on the roll cage in the event of an accident. So if your going to get a roll cage/bar, make damn sure your head won't come anywhere near it. Take into account that clearances need to be liberal because on impact, things stretch, pull, yank and bend. Roll cages are intended to be used with a helmet for a reason folks. They're for race cars, not street cars .................John

please correct me if im wrong but harnesesses can be located at an angle as long as its not 45deg. ideally shoulder height is recomended but how many people want to have a rollcage on a daily driven car but need the added secutity of a harness when they autocross or hit th e track

yup, the Sparco bar is a rip. My autopower 4pt roll bar was less than that and it does more than just guide my harnesses. If you really want a harness bar without the overpriced bling, try http://www.ioportracing.com Their's are only $99.

THE SHOLDER STRAP BOLTS TO WHERE THE REAR SEAT BELT HOLES ARE, AND THE LEFT SIDE LAP BELT MOUNTS TO YOUR STOCK LOWER SEATBELT HOLE.FOR THE RIGHT LAP BELT YOU CAN PUT IT IN YOUR RIGHT REAR SEAT MOUNT.I WOULDNT PUT THE HARNESS IN WITHOUT A CAGE, OR IF YOUR GOING TO BE DRIVING ON THE STREET BECAUSE ITS A PAIN, BUT ITS YOUR CAR AND YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT.
