Default Installed new motor, car wont start....

hey guys.
I have a 99 civic dx auto trans. i spun a bearing last month(please dont ask), anyways, I've just put the new motor in with the tranny, distributor, and intake + exhaust manis from the old motor.
now- when I go to start the car the starter will spin, but no spark from the dissy-??
Also, the speedo goes up and down when starting-??

any help on my situation will be greatly appreciated.
thanx

make sure that all grounds are secured tightly. it sounds funny but sometimes a ground wire may cause this. There should be 2 or three ground to check. Also make sure that your plugs are pluged in tightly

all grounds are secure. even the fan ground. all plugs clicked(secure). no blown fuses.
I still cant figure out why it wont spark- the dissy im using came off my other motor, so I know it works.
thanx for the reply

anyone else have any ideas???

im gonna test it. also, when i put the key in, there is a buzzing sound from the ecu- not a beeping sound.

When you turn the key on, the fuel pump should prime for a few seconds. Can you hear that?

If not, you probably either have a bad main relay or you forgot to put the ground on the thermostat housing(I've seen that happen alot).

Sounds ECU related to me. No fuel or sparks usually goes back to the ECU.

OK, it started this morning and ran for a minute or so, then it started pausing so i shut it down. Also, the buzzing sound stopped for a while.
I used the same ecu, and the buzzing is coming from the main relay, but I replaced it with two different used ones and its still buzzing...??
then again it wont start, and the buzz wont stop.??

any other ideas?

OK....
So it was a bad ground..
The plastic piece that is mounted behind the block has a nut that was kinda rusty, so i cleaned the contacts and it started right up!!
Another thing is, now i have a check engine light, and when I go to get it scanned tomorrow ill know of any other potential problems.
I'll fill you guys in, just incase anyone else has a problem similar to this.

I had some what the same problem in a friends car. And it was the same problem the nut on the back had build up on it and we cleaned it. And it runs great now. I wish i would have seen this post earlier. It would have saved you alot of trouble. But the point is you got it running. Congrats man

I got he car scanned today for the engine light- P0505 IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION.
the motor runs pretty good- this is the first install i have ever done by myself.
now i wish i would have taken pics- but nothings aftermarket, so....

what was interesting was, the new motor was a five speed motor, so i ended up taking off the clutch and flywheel(which is only about a month old(so i was told)) and installing my tq converter. -if anyone wants to pick up this clutch, Im in md-$15 bucks and its yours.

Thanx again guys for all the help
