im buying a new y8 head and intake mani am i getting ripped??????????? please give some feed back!!!
ok im setting up to buy and y8 head and im for my civic. i have a d15b7 and its going to be a mini me. the head has 40-60k miles on it also included is the im. He is selling it to me for 200 dollars. it comes with head, im, vtec solynoid and thats it. how many more parts will i need to make this swap complete? i also have headers and an intake for my car and was wondering if they would fit the new head. im pretty sure the headers go for 92-00 civic. i know i will need the TB but can i use my old fuel rail and injectors for this set up? also what else do you think i will need to purchase to make this a sure thing? i need to know if this deal sounds good or if he is leaving out key parts for this swap. thank you. it sounds like a decent price. you'll also need to buy a ecu from a y8. the intake won't fit, the header will but you'll be better off with an ex one.

yeah get an ex header so there is no cat in the middle like yours. Also, dont get a y8 ecu get a p28 so you can tune it down the line. Your gonna need new gaskets all around, I think thats it.

dont forget you will need a new head gasket seal since your taking the head off that must be replaced

just curious, why a mini-me? if you're looking into power difference, there isn't much.
2 bills sounds ok. you will also need all new gaskets, ie. head gasket, im gasket, tb gasket etc.

if you really must know i am doing this because i cant afford a new swap and i really just want vtec.its not too exspensive and it is supposed to give more horse. i either have the choice of exhaust 450?? or this mini me when the exhaust will give me less horse than this mini me will and it will cost more. i just think its a better deal.

ya, it's pretty good power for the money. however, people say that they feel a bigger difference from an ex tranny than from an ex head. if you already bought the head, i'd suggest buying an ex tranny as your next mod.

200-400, depending on mileage and condition. the reason is because when you shift you'll be at higher rpm, where more power is made obviously. if you have a y8 head on a dx tranny, you'll barely spend any time in vtec at all, so it won't make that big of a difference.

if you're talking about a 92-95 si, then its basically the same thing. the only difference between the 92-95 ex/si tranny and 96-00 ex is that the 92-95 has a aluminum clutch fork, while the 96-00 has a stronger steel one.
