Default Idle Problems---Searched

ok, i have a 92 hatch cx, with a 94 gsr with turbo.....really weird idle problems, half the time it idles fine, the other half is crazy. I start my car it idles around 1000rpms, then after i drive a few minutes it wants to idle around 1700-2100 rpms, w/e it feels like and then if i barely press the gas it idles down to 1000 rpms and then back up to 1700-2100 rpms....really wierd, and then every once and a while it likes to have the rev hicups, idling at 2300 rpms and then drops to 1000rpms over and over....just wondering what you guys thought, it bugs the crap out of me and im going to take the sensors out of my tb tomorrow and try to clean them up good

I thought I heard on an alternative post that the problems were from throttle cable play. I'm not an extensive mechanic, so I wouldn't know the exact piece in the copmuter system to locate such an idle process problem. But, in the most basic aspect, I would suggest looking at your throttle system, if you haven't already. Sorry, that's all I can say man...

My buddy has a 2nd gen Integra turbo'd that idles nuts like that too. Check for vaccum leaks, check the TPS make sure its working right and the MAP too. And make sure your throttle cable isn't too tight.

Had this problem on a vectra, it was caused by a split air hose. Just check all your pipes and make sure that they are all good fits

Code 14 is the IACV(idle air control valve). You need to remove it and clean it with choke cleaner. Make sure the little screen is CLEAN and thoroughly flushed out. With the engine warm, unplug the IACV and adjust your idle to between 450 and 550 RPM. Plug the IACV back in and clear your codes. If the problem is not solved, you have one of 5 problems.
1. vacuum leak
2. Obstruction or air bubble in coolant lines of IACV or FITV
3. Loose seat in Fast Idle Valve (if your model has a FITV)
4. Bad IACV or associated wiring and connector
5. Bad or intermittant ECT

my car is doing the same thing right now. i have that problem and my timing is off like 1.25 teeth (milled head and mini-me) and its too cold here right now for me to tear my car apart so i deal with it. my problem is worse, my car will sometimes even die when i press in the clutch for longer than 2 seconds. it only does it sometimes though. But what i was told to do is clean out that IACV, check for vac leaks, and do my timing. Good luck getting your **** fixed, i know how annoying it is

i cleaned out my throttle body and i think the iacv, not sure where it is, knows what it does...clean all that out and it idles good...but it might be in one of those little spells where it idles good....i hope i fixed it :crossed fingers:
