Idle Issue/Open Loop Problem (95 Civic w/ B18C1)
1995 Honda Civic Coupe
B18C1 (GSR) Motor
My car has been doing a funny intermittent idle hunt (Between 500 and 1K) from time to time. Computer hook up tells me that I'm constantly in the open loop and will not turn over into the closed loop/fuel economy mode. My car does not have the 02 sensor hooked up on the exhaust manifold because it is an aftermarket without the sensor bung. Could this possibly be why I'm in open loop all the time? Anyone have any similar problems?

the o2 sensor can be your problem. i thin you can have the ecu chipped to by pass it, or just take it to a muffler shop and have them weld in a bung for it.

Re: Idle Issue/Open Loop Problem (dangle)
Thanks. I'll look into that. One other thing that has me asking more questions, is why is there an 02 sensor on the exhaust manifold as well as a pre-catalyist (sp?) 02 sensor? The two sensors would be communicating to the computer what's happening before the cat and have no input on the post-cat info. Perhaps I was mistaken, and there was no 02 sensor on the exhaust manifold to begin with? I went back out to my car and could not find the 02 sensor plug for the exhaust manifold.... 0_o. Perhaps I should also stop using so much brake cleaner. Fumes, they get to you man.
