Default Idle/Open Loop Issue (B18C1 Swap)

1995 Honda Civic Coupe
B18C1 (GSR) Motor

My car has been doing a funny intermittent idle hunt (Between 500 and 1K) from time to time. Computer hook up tells me that I'm constantly in the open loop and will not turn over into the closed loop/fuel economy mode. My car does not have the 02 sensor hooked up on the exhaust manifold because it is an aftermarket without the sensor bung. Could this possibly be why I'm in open loop all the time? Anyone have any similar problems?

Clean your IACV and FITV. FTW!

They easy and free things you can do yourself. Good Luck.

There seems to be some confusion here though. (Mostly my own) AllData is telling me that my engine setup should only have one 02 sensor at the pre-catalyst. I thought there was a plug for the 02 at the exhaust manifold but I couldn't find it. Any insights on that? I'm tired of not getting the gas mileage I should be getting. (24/25mpg during a good week)

Done. Thanks. Any other suggestions?

I have close to the same set up. Maybe it is your ecu.

I have a after market header with 1 O2 sensor right before the cat. My idle issues were with the IACV and the FITV which is why I suggested them.

Good luck.

you need the pre cat O2 so your computer knows the correct air fuel ratio to give it. im not sure if obd1 has an after cat O2, i dont think so , but id get that one put in asap

what ecu are you running?
How did you hook a computer up to your car?
A code reader or a data logging program?
How are you running it without an O2 and not have a CEL on? Need more info to help you, man.

An obd1 ecu only uses 1 o2 sensor, so u only need 1 o2 sensor, that's the one b4 the cat, on the downpipe or ur header.
