Idle issue after Z6 swap

Idle issue after Z6 swap
Sup fellas, my name is Nick. I did a z6 swap on my buddy's 93 Del Sol over the weekend and I'm having one issue.
The car skips bad at idle. At 1500rpm and up it is smooth. I lined the timing marks up EXACTLY as they should be, but I read on one site that the z6 needs to be advanced/retarded 5 degrees to run correctly. Can anybody verify this info?
I'm an OBDII guy. I have NO idea how to read a CEL from an OBDI car, but I was hoping somebody might have some insight before I go and find out.
Also, my car runs on coils, so I don't have a timing light. I set the dizzy up to where the car sounds as good as it can above 1500rpm, but the idle stays shitty regardless.
HOWEVER, once the car is warm, the idle seems to stabilize a little bit. It will idle above 1000rpm and sound smoother than when the car is cold. No idea as to what's up...
Thanks for the help

Re: Idle issue after Z6 swap
Retarding your timing?... No. Check your mechanical timing along with setting your ignition timing. DOHC VTEC engine call for 16 degress BTDC (advanced). Reaserch on what your timing should be set at.
