Re: IACV??? (mcvtec)
Just take it off and try cleaning it, Its right behind the intake manifold. Use brake cleaner and spray untill it comes out clear. Try that and if it still doesnt idle right, just go ahead and get another one. I got a used one for 45 bucks and it runs great

Re: IACV??? (Dizayne)
Yes, you can clean it. Yes, it should work fine after that. As mentioned before the sputtering probably isn't your IACV though. I recommend putting a little lubricating oil in your IACV once your done to help things turn smoothly. Good luck.

Does it maybe need a tune up? Is there a Check Engine Light? How is the gas mileage? Recent timing belt replacement (timing possibly off)?

disconnect plug, take out to bolts that holding the iacv on the intake manifold and carefully remove two tiny hoses and clean it with brake cleaner spray..

that has nothing to do with your idle air control valve.

IACV doesn't do much of anything above idle not to mention while accelerating people.

OP didn't say anything about a bad idle and this thread is over a month old.

if you're on the gas, your IAC is uselss.
IACV is only for when the throttle plate is closed so your car doesn't die... It could be your spark plug wires or something ignition related.
