I need help putting my motor back together
Can anyone around austin please help me get my motor back to gether? I pulled the head to check the gasket and noticed the valves were in pretty bad shape. I have been waiting over a month to get parts and now am thinking about giving up. I cannot get the money for internals that I had planned on so now I just want to get the car back together and get it on the road. I do not know how to set timing so that I dont blow the motor when I start it nor do I have the equipment that might be needed to get the head back on. I am a noob when it comes to internals. I am also on a student budget so I cannot afford to spend a couple hundred dollars right now.

If you took the head off you can surely put it back on. All you will need is obviously a new headgasket. I would recommend a new timing belt and tensioner while your doing this. The cam gears have UP arrows. Make sure they are pointed up, and the timing marks on the sides should be lined up with the marks on the back of the timing belt cover. Timing is pretty simpe. Get an inductive timing light and make sure your timing marks are lined up by turning the distributor. You will also need a torque wrench to do the head bolts. Helms manual would be handy... hell even a Chilton would cover that one.
