help with rebuild please...
here is the deal, i totaled my civic coupe, motor was damagedand timing belt broke in the wreck, got the new parts, took off the head to make sure everything was good, it all checked out.. put the motor back together and now it seems that my timing off cause the car idles weird.. i dont have the upper timing belt covers on so i can see the belt, it looks loose but its on there good.. how do i set the timing with a timing gun? need to get this fixed its holding the project back, almost everything else is done..

whats goin' on Ryan. I'll bring that gun over to you sometime today probably. I'm thinking you skipped a tooth when you replaced the T-belt. Or maybe the timing is way out of whack. Also, were does it look loose? If it looks loose on the front part of the motor by the exhaust cam gear then it's pretty normal for it to slap around a little.

make sure you check your valve lash. if it is to tight it will idle fine cold then idle will start to worsen as it heats up. there is the possibility of a bent valve if you didn't have them checked.
when you let off the gas do the rpm's dip real low then come back but with misfiring?
