Default I Need Help Plaese, transmission problems

OK I just bought a 1995 Civic EX that did not have a tranny in it. I bought a tranny for it, but it had a big whine to it, and was told the tranny was no good. So I bought another tranny for it, and it does the same thing.
this is what I have done:
new clutch
pressure plate
throwout bearing
resurfaced flywheel
I dont know if maybe the throwout is bad or what, but it was brand new. Is it possible to put a clutch in backwards, or put a throwout bearing in wrong? I have spent all day today messing with it, and it is just irritating the crap out of me now. Is there any place that has pictures of the way a clutch and a throw out bearing are supposed to look when installing them? I mean it looks like they each only go on one way to me, but same whining noise, what are the possibilites that i got 2 bad transmissions? the second one came from an import shop, and it only came out because of a motor swap.
somone please help me quick I want to drive the damn car, its my only car right now.
and it only makes noise when the clutch is not engaged, whether you are in neutral or any gear, and it gets worse with acceleration. But if you engage the clutch, the noise dissappears. it is so annoying because i cant figure it out.

thanks a ton,
Jef

Does it have enough fluid? If so, try some honda MTF or GM Syncromesh... I've witnessed the syncromesh make 3rd gear grinds disappear!!

i used 75/90 redline. ok, now did i fill the right hole? I filled it like the manual says, there was a 17mm bolt facing the axel on the passanger side, I guess its on the left side of the transmission if you are standing in front of the car. but it only makes noise when the clutch is not engaged, when I engage the clutch the noise goes away, it is really irritating.
thanks,
Jef

dude get a fricking service manual
wtf

it would have answers to most of those questions,
and pictures/diagrams of where everythings supposed to go, and the installation/removal procedures for everything, AND anything else that you NEED to know to do the job right.

dont just dive in and stick things together how they "look" like they're supposed to go

your problem is most likely the input shaft bearing. they are really common things to go bad, especially in high mileage or heavily abused tranny's. the noise goes away when you push the clutch in because you stop spinning the input shaft. drive the car with the tranny that is in it right now and take your other tranny (i assume you still have it) and have a transmission shop replace the input shaft bearing and seal.

btw, you are correct. the only clutch parts that can be put in backwards is the pilot bearing, and it doesn't matter which way you put him in. putting anything else in backwards would be _very_ obvious.

and the fluid won't matter actually. most lsd's require gear oil in the box instead of mtf or 10w30.

also if you want to change your input shaft bearing here is a perfect write on the process and you can decide if this is what you want to do..
