i need better 60 ft times
ok i went to island dragway
never raced my car before this
i got a 2.36 60 ft on my khumo 712 at 22 psi
now when i got no wheel spin it bogged and my 60 for was like 2.5 somthing
when i got wheel spin i was a little lower (not much )
my 2.3 i had some wheel hop but no bogging
i was launching at about 3200 or so
so do im guessing i want a little wheel spin so i dont bog
but not to much
2.2 60 ft is possible with my b16a and khumos right???
should i just spend the money on bfg drag radials?

Re: i need better 60 ft times (redline201)
Run 0-.5 camber and try lowering your psi. I run azenis at 15 psi and my 60ft is 2.150. If you want to get serious about 60ft slicks is the only way. Oh yeah the stickier tire you run the higher rpm you will want to dump it at. I dump about 4700 with my azenis

Just decide if you want to wear tires out, or wear your clutch out.

Drop it to 19-20 PSI and see if you can do any better.
The lower tire pressure won't be dangerous and more tire surface on the ground is better, so...

I ran 20psi in Azenis and launched at 4500-500 rpm, slipping the clutch until it felt right. 2.0s and 2.1s all day.
Forget BFGs, get slicks and spare wheels.

You're letting it out slowly as opposed to dumping it. "Slowly" is relative. You develop a feel for it. Your tires will spin the entire 60' but it will produce the best times. Just takes practice... on the drag strip.

If you think about it, 60' isn't very long, so it's all about the initial "squirt" off the line. Just think of it that way and try different techniquies.

Re: i need better 60 ft times (Unsung EM1)
well i have 2 14 inch steelies i was thinking of mounting some slicks on
but id like some traction on the street also
i will be boosted shortly so i could use the extra traction on the street
anyone else feel free to add your 2 cents

I've got 2.20 with my D16 and all-season Yokohamas. It's just about the practice.

I just saw some "Lakewood" traction bars in the new summit for sport compacts... it pre-loads your front suspension "to eliminate wheel hop and glue your front tires to the asphalt. You'll notice a difference in traction right awat -[b]and in your 60ft times when you pick up your time slips." 279.95 for a pair.
Yo... dem shiots GLUE your tires to the asphalt!!!

I wouldn't mount slicks on steelies because they are to narrow. A slightly wider wheel (then steelies) will give you a bigger footprint.

Dumb the clutch and feather the gas. You save you cluth and your gas pedal is easier to feather. As far as RPM to dump at, it depends on how much traction you are getting. Go as high as you can untill your times get slower.
