It has a salvaged title.
but the car had a itr momo srs steering wheel when I went to look at it . but when I picked it up today they had put a stock civic srs steering wheel back into it.

The cable reel is in the steering colum and basically allows the wheel to turn w/o twisting up the wires in the colum for the horn and airbag and cruise control if you have it. The horn not working and the SRS light being on would indicate that the cable reel has failed and will need to be replaced.

Well if the SRS light is on and the horn doesn't work it would have to be multiple fuses, very unlikely. Quick question, does the cruise control work? Not just the little switch on the dash but the set/accel and resume/decel buttons on the steering wheel? If they don't it is the cable reel. It isn't too hard to replace, you need to remove the drivers airbag, then the steering wheel, the cable reel is behind that, I can email you the directions to replace it on a 1995 civic, it will be almost exactly the same (some screws may have a different location, but that's it). If you don't get a good price on it from the dealer call my guy Billy @ HondaCity. He is a good friend so let him know Adam reffered you to him and he will help you out. This dealer is located in Milwaukee,WI so he will have to ship it. His number is 1-800-228-1530, make sure to ask for Bill and tell him Adam from Chicago sent you to him. Let me know if you would like the directions to replace the cable reel, I will get it out to you later if needed.

I see you're in Charlottesville (or at least I think)........ if you don't want to figure it out yourself or need some help, give Rick at "High Speed Auto" (540-832-9800) a call....he's done some work for me and I've been really satisfied. He's also helped me with some problems I've had just by me calling him.

Yeah I might have to give rick a call. Maybe he can fix it. Does anyone know if The car will pass inspection with the srs light on?

Re: (dpine)
Alright man I'm gonna email you the **** to replace that cable reel, remember what I'm sending is from the 1995 civic manual, so it may be slightly different. The general process is exactly the same.

Re: (HondaFanatic708)
Just a note, whenever ****** with your airbags ALWAYS plug in the little red safety connector and don't be throwing or kicking them bitches. Accidental deployment can cause serious injury or DEATH!!! If anyone else has a similiar problem I just emailed dpine all the info needed to replace the cable reel. I take no responsability for dumb *** moved that make people go blind. Playing with airbags is like playing with 1/4 sticks of dynamite. Have fun but be safe! Happy tuning!!!
