i have b20 block and want to go all motor. good idea?
i have a b20 block with a b16 head in my garage and looking to build all motor. i want to get around 240hp out of it. what are good internals i can use to get that power? i heard that the sleeves on b20 block are an issue. can the stock sleeves hold 240hp or high revving ?

B20's were build and designed to rev to 6800RPM, Some people have no problem getting them up to 8000 but it certianly shortens their life expectancy, but honestly 240hp is VERY VERY high goal for an all motor build with an LS/Vtec.

b20s arent great for all motor or forced induction unless built right....first off you already mentioned the most critical point, which is the thin cylinder walls which WILL crack under stress. crvtec requires at least golden eagle vtec conversion kit, stronger rods, resleeving the block and arp rod and head bolts TO BE RELIABLE. ive heard stories all over the net about people just slapping a b16 head on and ******* the crap out of it. cracked cylinder walls, broken rods, spun bearings, rods going through blocks. do it right the first time.....heck since you gotta upgrade all the internals anyway you might as well go forced induction and create a torque monster using just the b20 head and block since it has low compression already

yea sounds correct to me and what are good internals i can use? i know about the arp bolts. what kind of rods and pistons should i use? when you say resleeving what exactly is done and how much does that usually go for?

sleeves sent out and everything done properly depending on the company will cost you around 1200 to 2k i had a b20 with 220 whp but didnt last to long i would defintly sleeve it dont do all this work and let it go down the drain but if you do sleeve it think about a stoker kit and making it 2.2 with a redlinr of 8200 a decent built head that can breath. A stock type R head is what I had 2001 with a upgraded port and polish and titanium retainers. it can be done

wow didnt think sleeving went for so much. i might just take time building the b20 and do my ls/vtec.
