Ok, I am gonna try to describe this the best I can so work with me. Sometimes, at low rpms when shifting from 1-2 I will get a metal to metal feeling like the gear is not engaging smoothly. It does not grind, it does not do it at the higher rpms, 4k+ or so, and it mainly does it when the trans is cold. It makes no audible sound I can tell. It just feels a bit notchy, like its not engaging smooth but only at low rpms. It downshifts perfect, goes in from neutral fine, handles high rpm fine. Am I paranoid or is there maybe a problem? Any help that can be offered would be good.

You say it feels like this only in the 1-2 gear shift? Do you have a short shifter? Also, how many miles on the car? If you do have a tranny problem it's most likely your synchros.. It's been very cold lately. Just go easy and don't bang the gears. I forgot the rocommended mileage for tranny fluid change. If the problem continues bring it to Honda.. Good luck.

Ok went out and was determined to figure this out, I know its not my syncros it doesnt fit the bill. I really payed attention to my driving and noticed I was being really quick with the clutch when the rpms were climbing down low and shifting slow with my hand. Hmmm, I slowed my foot down and made sure I got a good grab from the clutch, which of course I did, and shifted and bam...smooth as a babies *** even when it was cold. I cant explain it but I think the problem lied with my technique I guess I got a bit sloppy. I guess the shift speed should be consistent with the rpms and style driving your doing, honda trans can be quirky. Does this make any sense why it would seem to have solved my problem?
