Default Hydrolocked 00 Civic EX Throwing P0131

Hi there guys & gals. I have a 00 Civic EX with a cold air intake.

I was driving today. Came to a stop light. Light turned green and I was taking a turn. Little did I know the puddle I had gone through was deep. When I was approaching the turn I believe I was at 1500-2000 RPM's until the engine had choked from the water it had just sucked up.

The engine had shut off. I did try to crank it like 5 times till the battery gave out. I had the car towed to my place in which I took the plugs out and took out the water by taking all the plugs out and unhooking the distributor connector and cranking it. I then reassembled everything. I then kept cranking until it fired up. It ran a bit rough and looked like the steam was exiting the exhaust pipe for about 5 mins. I let the car burn off the water remaining in the cylinders.

The car runs just like normal except now I have a check engine light for the O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. I imagine because the water going through the pipe probably shorted out the sensor but just wanted to get an idea if I should be looking at anything else. I'm gonna be changing the sensor tomorrow. Just want to know if there is anything I should check.

Thanks

sorry this isn't gonna help you now.. but i just want to say this:

unless your car is a track/race car that is only driven on nice sunny days, don't put a CAI on it. there's really no point for a DD. especially considering the warm air is better for fuel economy

your CAI didn't give you any more HP

i seriously hope you changed oil as well. cranking the car with water on the cylinders was a bad call, lack of lubrication is never ever good. pull the ecu backup fuse to reset the code and see if it comes back.

Im aware that the cold air intake doesnt do much for a stock engine with no other mods on it, i was given the intake which was an aem. i figured it be nice. i plan on putting the stock airbox on since gas mileage has also taken a hit from this. But thanks for the info.

ill be changing the oil tomorrow and spark plugs, i do realize that it probably wasn't a good idea to keep cranking it since i could have caused more damage. luckily everything seems to be running as usual minus the o2 sensor. i have a code reader in which iv'e cleared the code at least 5 times in which it comes back after 5 mins. its the only code ive been getting.

Remove the O2 sensor. Soak it overnight in diesel fuel. Reinstall, clear the codes again, and see if it runs sans code.
