How would i go about storing a car????????????????
ok, well i have come to the realization that i can't no longer work on my 93 civic (for awhile, not permanently). due to some financial situations, i can't pour money into my car like the rest of addicts can. i also can't really depart from it yet, money is tight but not that tight.
so i was thinking of taking my insurance off and storing the car. now i know when you don't drive a car for a very long time things tend to go bad. isn't there a way to avoid this? do i have to siphon my gas? dump my oil and coolant?
i know people out there have to know or there wouldn't be car collectors, right?

Are you storing it like your storing it for winter? If you have space where the car wont move at all put it on jack stands, put a car cover over it and disconnect the battery. Once ever 2 weeks turn the car on til its operating temp and then turn it off.
You could leave it on the wheels if you want and keep it uncovered. Most important part is the batt and for the motor to keep it up to date with being lubed (aka being turned over). If its going to be more then 6 months i suggest draining the gas once a month and put a fresh gallon in to start up the car.

yeah i live in FL, so technically we don't have winters!
but i was thinking of just leaving the car and forgeting about it until my finance was better. spend some time focusing on other things that are more important. who knows, maybe eventually i will sell it, but right now it's not planned.

I just followed what my honda manual said.
1) Fill gas
2) Change oil and filter
3) Clean exterior ie wash and wax
4) Add wax to door jambs and window seal areas (so that seals don't stick)
5) Clean interior
6) Parking brake off, keep tranny in reverse and have car on jack-stands.
7) Disconnect battery
8) Cover wipers with towels
9) Leave one window open for ventilation
I haven't had a problem with two years of storage.

no headgasket or main seal leaks? my main concern is pain in the *** seals and gaskets start leaking.

i would do what they both said and just make sure you turn your car on to normal temp every once in a while.
