how tight do you tighten you acc belts?

Tighten the belts until there is some play in it. If you can't even budge it a millimeter, it's WAY too tight. If there is some play in it when you push and pull it, but not enough to make it "jump" or essentially vibrate off on hard accelerations, you're good to go.
What belts did you need? I'll check my Helms for exact specifications.

i just messed with the power steering belt... it was uber tight...
i loosened it a bit so it has some play (according to the helms 1/4 deflection) and now it screeches like crazy

Does the belt show any signs of wear and tear? Why DID you loosen the belt? Probably, after miles and miles of use at that tension, it might of stretched a bit from OEM-spec and conformed to it.
Now that it's loose, it won't return to it's original size, and will screech.
Have you changed it out with a non-OEM unit or if you have, does it have the same rib-pattern?

i figured out the main proble
alt belt is loose
im running a HO alternator from http://www.4alterstart.com and the pulley is smaller than stock... using a stock belt tension was ok but the adjustment bolt was maxed out...
im gonna replace it with a belt thats 1 inch short than stock...
i hope autozone/ pep boys has something

Make sure it has the same amount of ribs on it. Easiest way is to get all their assortment of the belts on the counter, search and pick from the litter.

anyone know the stock alternator belt length?
it would be a pain to get my belt off, get a ride from someone to the auto store, then drive back and put it on....
the problem is i'm running ahigh output alt and need a shorter than stock belt

Ask for the stock belt for that engine. Then, look at the other ones and compare it to the stock one. For the most part, it will be equal in length to an OEM-Honda one.
