Default Shredded p/s belt, can i drive without it?

I just shredded my p/s belt. Is it ok to drive without it? WIll it hard the p/s system or just make it harder to drive with no damage to the p/s?

Also how much defelction is this damn belt supposed to have first i had it too loose (squealing) now i had it too tight (shredded) so what should it be? I had it at about 1-2mm of deflection, pretty tight

Well driving around without your p/s pump working can harm your rack and pinion internally.

Loop the rack some cars require you to put a tee fitting in the top of the loop.
expletive power steering.

wow... take the belt grab with 2 fingers and lightly twist it back an forth. it should be taught and unable to flex more that 1/4in.

the belt is supposed to be taught to 1/4in deflection
