I looked around for part numbers on the different DOHC oil pumps and I got the same part numbers for all type r, LS, GSR, and B16 oil pumps.

IS there a marking somewhere on the oil pump to tell the difference?

^^ I was under this impression too. I have been told from numerous people, "go with the type-r oil pump". When I realized that they are all the same part number I didnt understand why everyone would refer to it as "type-r oil pump" and not just a general name like " 96+ b series oil pump".

Well...its the same as people saying "get gsr brakes".

GSR/Type R = same. LS/B20 = Same and then i believe B16 is on its own. They all have the same bolt pattern so you could use either or BUT each one pumps different levels of oil.
