how to place a jackstand
could some of you owners of an eg show me how you place a jackstand underneath your car? i have one of those jackstands with the v shape and everytime i try to put it on the the right spot it always messed up my side skirts and leaving marks.
maybe i should go buy the flat top jackstand.

Underneath the car, about 4-5 inches from the edge of the sideskirt there are about 4 inch ridges that protrude from the frame about a quarter of an inch. There are two lift points right behind the fender well and right in front of the rear well.

Re: how to place a jackstand (BlueIntegraBoy)
Not to hijack the thread or anything but where do you guys jack the car up from to be able to place the jack stands at those jack points...I had used the jack at the jack points and put the jack stands on the lower control arms but to provide more working room under the car I prefer to put the jack stands on those metal tabs but I don't know a safe place to jack the whole car up from other than those...obviously staying away from the oil pan...anyone else have a theory or a proven safe place to jack these cars up?

Re: how to place a jackstand (bart2546)
i always jack it up by the lower radiator support, then put the jack stands where blueintegraboy said. and if i need to work on it for awhile, i'll then take ramps and shove them under my front wheels for extra safety...
ramps=sure as hell not falling

I usually just jack up my car from the tow hooks and then you can place the jackstands at the jack points on the sides.

Re: how to place a jackstand (Ricey McRicerton)
not to be a dick but this is all covered in the owners manual. The front jack point is on the core support. There is a cut out in the plastic fairing. It is off center so the car is tilted a bit untill you get the jack stands under it. The rear tie down hook is a good place to jack from.

For real? Hmm, I didn't know that. I've been jacking my car up from there for awhile. I always thought that if you jacked it up from the core support that it would bend that. Good to know.

The grove (V shape) in your jack is too deep and that is why you end up with marks on your side skirts.
If you don't want to buy new jack stands, you can consider the other jack points mentioned in this thread and still use your current stands(ie lca)

Go to your car, look underneath. Find the lift points according to my instructions above.
